Study of voltage cycling conditions on Pt oxidation and dissolution in polymer electrolyte fuel cells

This paper is devoted to study the electrochemical behavior of Pt catalyst in a polymer electrolyte fuel cell at various operating conditions and different electric potential difference (also known as voltage) cycling applied accelerated stress tests. The degradation platinum considered with respect dissolution oxide coverage described by one-dimensional model. In model, rate increases temperature decreasing particle diameter nano-particles. theoretical underlying diffusion system nonlinear reactions presented analytical methods gives explicit solutions through first integral ODE system. Numerical tests are obtained using second order implicit–explicit scheme. computer simulation shows that lifetime depends on voltage profile upper level. By this mass loss more significant membrane surface than gas layer.
